McQuaid Inv.: Top marks for Arlington boys, Burnt Hills girls, Weisner and Manahan

HIGHLIGHTS

** BOYS Teams: Amazingly, the winning teams in each seeded class scored 100. In ‘AAA,’ NY#3 (Marc Bloom) Arlington’s 100 (best of day 15:32.4 avg.) was 25 points up on Strake Jesuit (15:37.6), with #9 Rush-Henrietta (142, 15:39.8) and Baldwinsville (143, 15:40.8) following.
It was Walsh Jesuit in the ‘AA’ race, scoring 100 to Pittsford Mendon’s 143 (15:51.2 avg.), Franklin Academy’s 153 (15:48.4 avg.) and East Aurora’s 154 (15:50.8 avg.). In the ‘A’ race, Pawling (16:03.6 avg.) and Northeast Bradford (15:53.6 avg.) each scored 100, but Pawling won easily on the 6th-man tiebreaker.

** BOYS Indiv.: Marcellus NY sr Ryan Manahan won the ‘AA’ race with the best time of the day, 14:37, with Lake Shore NY jr TJ Hornberger second with 14:51. The ‘AAA’ race was taken by Arlington’s Sibby Hanson in 14:39, followed by Baldwinsville sr Alec Peinkofer (14:45) and Strake Jesuit jr Frank Lara (14:46). North East PA sr Ryan Smathers took the ‘A’ race with 14:51.

** GIRLS Indiv.: Fastest time of the day went to Elk Co. Cath. PA jr Kennedy Weisner, who clocked 16:46 to win the ‘A’ race by more than 50 seconds. After taking 23rd at FL Northeast last fall, Weisner improved rapidly in track with a 4:48.69 1,600 PR and was 3rd in the NBNO mile.
The deeper ‘AAA’ race went to Penfield NY jr Katie Lembo in 16:56, second best of the day. She topped Arlington soph Bella Burda (17:00) and West Irondequoit sr Georgia Tuttle (17:10). In her first race since last January, 2011 Foot Locker Finals 3rd-place finisher Laura Leff was 9th in 17:56.
Sweet Home NY soph Aileen Doyle ran 17:35 in the ‘AA’ race to edge Marcellus jr Rachel Garn (also 17:35) and teammate Alexandria Ortega 17:37. Clarence NY jr Marissa Saenger edged Williamsville South NY jr Carolyn Hopkins, 17:34-17:35 in the AA-2 race.

** GIRLS Teams: NY#6 Burnt Hills took the ‘AA’ race with 68 (18:17.2 avg.), the best team mark of the day, to #5 East Aurora’s 84 (18:28.6 avg.). In the AAA race, it was #7 Rush-Henrietta 108 (18:30.4 avg.) over Penfield 120 (18:28.2). Canton won the ‘A’ race with 94 (18:46.4 avg.) over Maple Grove’s 101 (18:49.8 avg.).
